Day Eight – At Sea & Victoria B.C.
Good Morning from our Seabound Vessel: As we have made our way from the confines and smoother waters of the Alaskan channels, and back into the brisk ocean sea caps of the North Pacific. Last night was a bit choppy for some likings, while for others it made for easy slumber as we were rocked to sleep.
Anyway, today is pretty much an At-Sea-Day, as we shall arrive in Victoria around 6:30pm this evening for a quick stop as we need to be back on board by midnight. While there is much to see in Victoria during daytime stopovers, for us the available tours are shortened and fewer in number. Basically they are sightseeing tours that take in a point or two of significant interest with a focus on those places which offer nice nighttime illuminated panoramic views such as Inner Harbour, Chinatown, Craigdarroch Castle, and the stunning vistas along Marine Drive. One of the highlighted tours takes you to a self guided 2 hour tour of the magnificent Butchart Gardens (above right), which comes alive at dusk as the floral displays are illuminated by tiny accent lights.
As we get back to our rooms tonight we need to make sure to have our checked bags (everything not being carried off the ship) are packed and ready for pick-up outside our rooms by 1am tonight. Tomorrow morning will be a very busy time with everyone disembarking from the cruiseship as we each make our varied ways back to our homes with our cruise but a memory in our hearts and minds.
I do wish to take this opportunity so say a word of thanks to all of the wonderful crew we have had the pleasure to get to know this week. You quickly learn that it is not the Cruiseline, nor the Vessel itself that makes the cruise, but it is because of the efforts of the crew members themselves; for it is truly they who make the cruise so special and enjoyable for the passengers. Maybe for some of them who went a little above and beyond in your mind their might even been a special recognition of their efforts in store for them. Please remember to reward our servers and stewards and be sure to say a special word of THANKS to each of them for the wonderful service they have provided us during our short but memorable cruise vacation. We look forward to our future cruise adventures and maybe even will see some of them again on another voyage down the line!
I wish for each and everyone safe passage back to your respective homes and trust your experience has been an enjoyable and memorable one. For those of you who have joined us in the printed words I wish to express my Thanks to You, and hope that we might one day in the future be able to Welcome You Aboard a cruise adventure of your own.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and give a Big Thanks to our Family Group for allowing me the privilege of booking and escorting their family members on this Alaska 7 Day Adventure Cruise. Words are not able to express just how much I appreciate their trust, and their confidence in choosing me and how honored my wife and I have been to join along with them here for this adventure filled week aboard the lovely Holland America MS Westerdam. Again to all of them I wish to say THANK YOU!
Well that brings this cruise report to a close till my next adventure, which will be the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas, the largest passenger cruise ship in the World. I will be sailing on her in the next few months, (with details forthcoming) and I hope you can join in on the fun we’ll certainly have. So that will be all for now as we sail into the sunset from the MS Westerdam till next time. Thanks so much for joining us! – “CruisewithMike”.
